Tips for Halloween-Themed Rice Krispie Treats
- Melting Chocolate Wafers: Use lower microwave power and stir often to prevent burning.
- Avoid overheating chocolate wafers, they don't contain any cocoa and if you overheat them, they will become hard and won't spread.
- Avoid Water: Never add water to melted chocolate or candy melts, which causes them to seize and become unusable.
- Customization: Use white chocolate with food coloring if candy melts aren't available.
- Add-on Fun: Attach popsicle sticks or sturdy straws to make candy pops.

Try these variations
- Use colored icing or edible markers to pipe faces or designs onto pumpkin or ghost shapes.
- Use edible markers or colored icing for adding faces and details. Add Halloween-themed sprinkles for extra fun.
- Have fun with Halloween sprinkles or candies into the mixture lightly before it sets.
- Make Pops: Attach sturdy straws or popsicle sticks before dipping to turn treats into festive lollipops.

Are white melting wafers same as white chocolate?
No, white melting wafers are not the same as white chocolate; melting wafers are a candy coating made with palm oil instead of cocoa butter, while true white chocolate contains cocoa butter and has a smoother texture and creamier flavor.
Wafers are designed to melt easily for dipping and drizzling but have a waxy, less flavorful taste, whereas white chocolate has a higher quality, silky texture that melts smoothly and stays liquid longer.

Store, but do not refrigerate
Store Rice Krispie treats in an airtight container with parchment paper between layers. Avoid refrigeration, which can cause treats to harden. They maintain best texture for 2-3 days but can remain tasty up to a week if stored properly.

So easy, still Halloweeny and not scary or using some weird colors at all - love that the colors are pale and pleasant.
