This Ultimate Green Bean Casserole Skillet is loaded with all the flavors of a traditional green bean casserole recipe, but is made in a skillet with the homemade creamy mushroom sauce.

    Ultimate Green Bean Casserole Skillet

Flavored with garlicky Boursin cheese and white wine on the inside and Gruyere cheese and bread crumbs on the outside, this amazing recipe will wow the entire family! Oh, and we have fall apart chicken in it too!

Why make Ultimate Green Bean Casserole Skillet?

You will love this green been and chicken dish, especially the creamy mushroom sauce and the cheese combination flavors. Not only does the made from scratch mushroom sauce replaces a canned mushroom soup for a better taste, it also has added flavors from Boursin cheese and thyme, oregano from Italian seasoning.

It’s cheesy, creamy and is simply incredible! I can see us use this sauce in so many other recipes in the future.

Everything in this Ultimate Green Bean Casserole Skillet is cooked in one skillet (with the exception of fresh green beans that need to be boiled). Before baking, chicken and beans are topped with Gruyere cheese and bread crumbs for a crispy finish.

No need to transfer anything to a casserole. It’s not called Ultimate Green Bean Casserole Skillet for nothing.

    Substitutions

The chicken is the star in the Ultimate Green Bean and Chicken Casserole Skillet. It’s so tasty and amazing, you will definitely be going back for more.

This is the pull-apart texture of the chicken that I was talking about earlier. The chicken turned out so perfect! Slightly browned on the outside and soft and delicious on the inside.

      Hi Olya
green beans- add to boiling water, when do you start timing the 2 minutes. When water come back to a boil, or right after you dump them in the water. Also, what kind of bread crumbs did you use in this recipe.

Jackie – start timing 2 minutes after adding them to boiling water. I used plain bread crumbs, it was Whole Foods’ private label brand 365 – on the package it states Panko, made with fresh bread.

Can you use a different type of mushroom? I don’t like the white ones. They are too earthy for me.

Yes, you can use other types of mushrooms here or omit it altogether. The best part here is the chicken, beans and the sauce. Also, because you are cooking mushrooms in the skillet and also baking them in the oven – they will taste pretty mild.

If I can’t find Boursin cheese, what would be a good substitute?

You can use whipped cream cheese and add more seasoning (salt, pepper, Italian seasoning) to compensate for the loss of flavor.
