Spicy Peach Margarita with Hot Honey cocktail blends the juicy sweetness of ripe peaches with the tartness of lime and the smoothness of tequila. Nothing gets the party started better than this margarita glass rimmed with Tajin and hot honey! Perfect for taco nights together with Strawberry Margarita on the Rocks!

Spicy Peach Margarita with Hot Honey

When I think of spicy peach margarita, I don't think of those gigantic, syrupy, slushy margaritas with little alcohol, almost like a tequila highball. I like my margaritas boozy, citrusy, and spicy. And with some strong flavors from chili paper and hot honey.

This is such an authentic, classic margarita (in a sweet and spicy version) that is very spirit-forward: Cointreau adds just enough sweetness, lime balances hot honey, and the tequila really shines.

Why you'll love Peach, Margarita and Hot Honey

Hot Honey Peach Margarita is an ideal choice for those hot summer days when you crave something sweet, spicy, and irresistibly refreshing. And if you love peaches, hot honey and margarita bars - why not put them together?

This drink is colorful, playful, and perfect for all the tequila lovers out there. And with peak peach season in full swing, this spicy peach margarita will become everyone's favorite summer cocktail. Use the best fresh ingredients available, and a good quality blanco tequila to reduce the after-party blues.

Peach Margarita with Hot Honey

Ingredients for Hot Honey Peach Margarita

  • Peaches - I made puree from fresh peaches, but you can also used canned peaches for this recipe.
  • Hot honey - A beautiful way to spice up the margarita! No agave nectar, just hot hot honey.
  • Tequila - Silver tequila is the purest form of tequila, also known as tequila blanco.
  • Orange Liqueur - Cointreau if you want the orange liqueur addition. Grand Marnier adds citrus flavor to the margarita. If you don't have either, use peach vodka or Peach Schnapps. Avoid triple sec at all costs.
  • Limes - Only freshly squeezed lime juice.
  • Jalapenos - Just cut up some fresh jalapenos without seeds.
  • Tajin - So delicious around the rim! You can also use paprika or Chipotle Seasoning.

Tools

A basic shaker and a jigger make a huge difference in making homemade peach margaritas!

How to make Spicy Peach Margarita

Create asymmetric rim: The first step is to rim the glass with honey and Tajin (or use paprika). Spread a generous amount of honey on one side of the glass using a brush to get the angled rim.

Hot honey around the rim

Then dip and twist the glass into the Tajin seasoning until coated.

Coating the glass in the Tajin

Play around with the coating and hot honey to get an asymmetric rimming - just add more honey and Tajin on one of the sides of the glass.

The next step is to combine peach puree with hot honey, tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice. Shake with ice, then pour into your rimmed cocktail glass.

Tips on making the best spicy peach margarita

Use fresh peaches: Peaches should be ripe, firm and juicy, using mushy peaches is allowed but not recommended:).

Use fresh limes: Fresh squeezed lime juice is always best for a great tasting peach margarita. Add some fresh lime zest to your rim salt so that fragrance is right on the nose.

Let the limes steep overnight: If you can start the day before, zest your limes (and lemons, if applicable) into the juice and let it steep overnight. It adds another layer of flavor to both peaches and hot honey.

Add lemon juice: Supplement some of the lime juice with fresh lemon juice. The two flavors enhance each other, somewhat like using vanilla or coffee to boost a chocolate flavor.

Shake well: Beat your spicy peach margarita like you mean it.

How to make skinny peach margarita

For non-alcoholic skinny I avoid the liqueur and just add lime juice with a splash of orange juice. Still super refreshing, peach flavor comes through beautifully and your margarita. Another skinny peach margarita version would be Tequila, lime juice, triple sec and no sweetener, that is no hot honey.

What can I use for the rim

Tajin is a Mexican seasoning blend made with a blend of chili peppers, lime and salt and it pairs up beautifully with both peach margarita and hot honey. However, you can always replace it with chili pepper and sea salt if that's what you have on hand. You can also use chipotle or paprika. Just don't forget to add some salt!

Hot honey - This honey is infused with chili peppers already making our job so much easier. It's spicy honey. You can mix your own hot honey by adding a pinch of crushed chili peppers. I am also pretty sure that you can just add regular honey since Tajin (or chili pepper powder) will have all the spices you need.
